Training Course 3
The Children's Weight Clinic (SCOTT) evidence based client centred treatment programme
Training course 3 - A specialist two day course which aims to give health professionals the skills and expertise to hold individual sessions with children and their families. It is based on the SCOTT project - an RCT held in Scotland, results published in Pediatrics 2008 (Hughes et al) and the programme outline published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association 2005 (Stewart et al). The SCOTT intervention is a structured programme which employs behavioural change techniques and our training allows participants to acquire important transferable skills. The programme itself is highly transferable and can be delivered in primary, secondary or non-health care settings.
Training course 3 is aimed primarily at dietitians, although other experienced health professionals may wish to attend. We would recommend that those attending have undertaken at least basic training in behavioural change.
In conjunction with this 2 day course the CWC offers an on-going training and mentoring of staff to ensure a high level of skills and service delivery.
For more detailed information on this 2 day course and our on-going mentoring programme see The Children's Weight Clinic (SCOTT) page.
